Frequently asked questions
Clear answers for organizations building stronger, more sustainable funding programs.
1. What types of organizations do you work with?
Wyoming Grant Services partners with nonprofits, public agencies, school districts, colleges and universities, tribal governments, municipalities, and qualified businesses throughout Wyoming, the Mountain West, and across the United States. Every engagement is tailored to the organization’s goals, funding priorities, and long-term strategy.
2. When is the best time to start pursuing grant funding?
Earlier than most organizations think. The strongest grant proposals begin long before an application is released. If you’re unsure whether your organization is ready to pursue grant funding, Wyoming Grant Services can conduct a comprehensive Grant Readiness Assessment to evaluate your organizational capacity, identify strengths and gaps, and provide specific recommendations to improve your competitiveness before investing valuable time and resources into grant applications.
3. Can you help if we are not ready to apply for grants yet?
Absolutely. Many of our clients begin working with us before submitting their first proposal. Through our Grant Readiness Assessment, we evaluate your organization’s current funding capacity and provide a customized roadmap outlining the specific steps needed to become grant ready. Whether the recommendation is strengthening financial systems, improving program data, refining project design, or building organizational capacity, we help position your organization for long-term funding success.
4. How do new client engagements begin?
Every engagement begins with a consultation to learn about your organization, funding goals, current capacity, and long-term priorities. Based on that discussion, we recommend the services that best fit your needs, whether that is grant strategy, prospect research, proposal development, grant management, or ongoing consulting support.
5. How are your services priced?
We offer flexible engagement options designed to meet the needs of each client. Services may be provided through flat-fee projects, monthly retainers, or customized consulting agreements. Following your initial consultation, we provide a detailed scope of work and transparent pricing before any work begins.
6. Do you guarantee grant awards?
No. No ethical grant consultant can guarantee grant funding. Award decisions are based on many factors outside a consultant’s control, including available funding, reviewer scoring, and the competitiveness of other applications. The Grant Professionals Association Code of Ethics also considers compensation based on grant awards or a percentage of grant funding to be unethical. Our commitment is to provide strategic guidance and develop highly competitive proposals that maximize your organization’s competitiveness while maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.
7. What makes Wyoming Grant Services different?
We do far more than write grant proposals. We help organizations build sustainable funding strategies. Our work includes identifying the right funding opportunities, strengthening project competitiveness, developing compelling proposals, and supporting organizations throughout the grant lifecycle. Our goal is to become a long-term funding partner, not simply complete individual grant applications.
8. Do you work with organizations outside Wyoming?
Yes. While Wyoming Grant Services is proudly rooted in Wyoming and focused on serving the Mountain West, we support organizations throughout the United States. Our team has worked with organizations from coast to coast, bringing national grant experience together with the personalized service and regional perspective of a Mountain West consulting firm.
9. Who will be working on our projects?
Our team is made up of experienced grant professionals who live, work, and invest in the communities they serve. Because our consultants call Wyoming and the Mountain West home, they understand the unique opportunities, challenges, and priorities facing organizations throughout our region. As Wyoming Grant Services continues to grow, we are building a network of highly qualified regional grant professionals who share our commitment to thoughtful strategy, exceptional quality, and personalized client service.
10. What types of grants do you specialize in?
Our experience includes federal, state, local, foundation, and corporate funding opportunities across workforce development, education, STEM and CTE, artificial intelligence, broadband, economic development, infrastructure, community development, public safety, health and human services, capital projects, organizational capacity building, and general operating support.
11. Why do you emphasize strategy before proposal writing?
Because pursuing the wrong funding opportunity is often more costly than missing one. Successful grant programs begin with thoughtful planning, not proposal writing. We help organizations identify the right opportunities, evaluate competitiveness, strengthen project design, and align funding pursuits with their mission, capacity, and long-term goals. A strategic approach increases competitiveness, improves efficiency, and builds sustainable funding programs that support long-term organizational growth.
12. Why should I choose Wyoming Grant Services?
We combine executive leadership experience with deep grant expertise to help organizations build sustainable funding strategies that support long-term growth. Our approach goes beyond proposal writing by focusing on thoughtful planning, strategic partnerships, and competitive funding solutions that strengthen organizations and the communities they serve.
